Visit to Rocky mountains Colorado

Posted Sept. 13, 2013

  • We left Verona Wisconsin on Friday 30 August 2013 at 6.30 pm for the travel to Rocky mountain national park Colorado.
  • our first stop was Omaha NE after more than 6 hours drive.Omaha was nice place and lot of hotels and restaurants are available over there.Climate was Ok , not too cold or hot.
I will recommend Omaha as a stop because the hotels are cheaper than other places. Also one can cover the distance to reach Denver after another 7 to 8 hours of drive.
  • We had night stay in Omaha and next day after breakfast we left for Denver,
This was long travelling to reach Denver. This is also reasonable to get very good hotels and variety of foods. We went to Jerusalem mediterranean restaurant.Basically they were serving arabic food, no doubt the the food was of nice taste and we really enjoyed. Then we went to Doubletree hotel and had night stay. This was also very good hotel and affordable price of $80 per night..
  • We gained one hour in Denver and this is nice city with good weather and was slightly more colder. Its downtown is ok and one can see in just half an hour.
  • Next day after breakfast we left Denver at 10 am and we directly went to Garden of God.
This is just 30 minutes drive and on our way the route was scenic, more mountains and green. We saw Red Rock on way to Colorado springfield, which was because of the presence one of sharp rock.
  • Garden of God is just 50 min drive from Denver.Garden of God is nice place to see various shapes of red rocks. This is best place for hikers .You can enjoy thoroughly this place and need 2 to 3 hours.
  • Then we went to Cave of winds. Which is hardly 20 minutes from this place. They offer two guided tours one is 45 minutes and ticket is $18 . Other is 90 minutes and ticket is 90 minutes. This cave looks to be inactive as compare to Cave of Mounds in Wisconsin, which is active cave and more beautiful crystals formation.
  • We stayed in El Colorado historic lodges. These were built is 1928 and these are the oldest of all lodges in this town.
  • Next day we left for Arches national park Utah.We followed the 50 west the most scenic route, I think people have no idea about this road.I will suggest if some one is going to Utah , they should follow this scenic route.Rout 50 west most scenic road and there is Summit pass 11500 feet high.
  • On our way we crossed the Trimarchi valley Gunnison. This is considered as Valley last town on earth.
    • From Montrose CO then we reached delta. From there we crossed Grand junction largest city of west Colorado, also called as river city and it has population of 58000.This is called Grand junction because of Two river meet here.
  • From grand junction we went to 1-70 towards. UT.We reached Moab at 9 pm and had dinner then went to our lodge.
  • This was to our surprise because this was condo and beautifully decorated. We paid $445 for two nights for four people . I will recommend everyone to stay there .
  • In the morning when I got up and saw from the window I was surprised to see mountains. Now We went to Arches national park and had adventure of to see double arch which was 1.5 mile and it was so tough that we never thought of that. To us it took 3.20 hours after taking so many breaks.I will not suggest to people who are having no good stamina. This is really one of the tough hike.In septembet the temperatute was around 99 F.After finishing we were dead tired and came to guest house. This condo was mahanged by the moab lodging and property management, this is situated on 690 S main Moab UT 84532 phone 800-505-5343.
  • Next day we again traveled from Moab and reached mount Evans. This was very green beautiful scenic views route to the top.But there were very few people going to top as compared to Pike peaks.Last 11 miles were very steep climb. This is more green due to forest on the way.Mount Evans road start from Idaho springs.
  • From the mountain Evans we went to hotel (Best western plus) in Longmont CO and had nice sleep.
  • We had breakfast and left for Colorado Rocky Mountain .
  • We crossed the scenic Rocky Mountain national park and reached grand lake city after roughly 2 hours drive.Grand lake city is nice beautiful town present on the great lake. This is tourist town. This is famous for snow mobile.
  • We stayed in Grand lake lodge with a beautiful view of the lake. The temp here was 60 F and quite cold.We again crossed the Rocky Mountain park entered Estes park this was beautiful city.
  • Now we started for to drive to back to Madison WI.After 8 hours of drive we reached Kearney, Nebraska..This state has flat land and more of agriculture.

Smoking Quitting And Electronic Cigarettes

Posted Aug. 28, 2013

  • Smoking is a addiction. This is most common in the third world countries.
  • This is also more common in the less educated population.
  • There are so many various remedies / treatments are available to quit smoking.
  • Are any quit smoking products good like electronic cigarette?
  • We should know that all of these devices or Nicotine derm patch or chew gum, all these contains the nicotine. So we are just replacing one of the source of nicotine.
  • The smokers have addiction to nicotine. So by changing the mode of nicotine administration does not help the smokers or prevent the side effects of nicotine.
  • Electronic cigarettes
  • The electronic cigarette was developed in China in 2004 and was designed by the Runyan corporation.
  • It was designed to take the place of smoking tobacco cigarettes and cigars because, despite global smoking bans, many smokers just find it too difficult to quit altogether.
  • There are numerous nicotine replacement products on the market, such as gum and patches, but these in no way replicate the smoking experience which has been proven to be a part of the addictive ritual of smoking.
  • The e-cigarette is revolutionary in that it’s aim is to both deliver nicotine to user and simulate the experience of smoking a traditional tobacco cigarette.
  • (Source from
  • But keep in mind that we are providing the nicotine to the body and smoker will have side effects of nicotine.
  • Addiction of smoking will be there.e-cigarettes is not going to benefit the smokers in any form.
  • To quit smoking only the motivation and willpower is needed.
  • This is interesting that smokers know the side effects of smoking that it will lead to lung cancers and heart diseases, but still they will keep on smoking.
  • What is the reason? I think that they don’t know Health is wealth. They can ask the patients, value of health and may have some idea.
  • Other interesting thing is that we as human beings know the side effects of smoking but still there is cigarette industry of billion of dollars. Those industrialists are selling certificate of death to the smokers , just for sake of money. If they want they can make more money from other useful industries.
  • If cigarettes are not available in the market ,I am sure we can get rid of one of the cause of death like lung cancers and heart diseases.
  • Even the government does not put ban on cigarettes perhaps they get revenue.
  • In the end I will suggest to smokers that they should quit before it is too late.

Nails and Health. Is there any relation ?

Posted Aug. 19, 2013

  • Our nails tell us various diseases in our body.
  1. Did you know your nails can reveal clues to your overall health?
    1. A touch of white here, a rosy tinge there, or some rippling or bumps may be a sign of disease in the body.
    2. Problems in the liver, lungs, and heart can show up in your nails.
  2. Pale Nails sometimes be a sign of serious illness, such as:
    1. Anemia.
    2. Congestive heart failure.
    3. Liver disease.
    4. Malnutrition.
  3. White Nails :
    1. The nails are mostly white with darker rims, this can indicate :
    2. Liver problems, such as hepatitis.
  4. Yellow Nails :
    1. One of the most common causes of yellow nails is a fungal infection.
    2. As the infection worsens, the nail bed may retract, and nails may thicken and crumble.
    3. In rare cases, yellow nails can indicate a more serious condition such as :
      1. Severe thyroid disease.
      2. Lung disease.
      3. Diabetes.
      4. Psoriasis.
  5. Bluish Nails :
    1. Nails with a bluish tint can mean the body isn’t getting enough oxygen.
    2. This could indicate an infection in :
    3. The lungs, such as pneumonia.
    4. Some heart problems can be associated with bluish nails.
  6. Rippled Nails :
    1. If the nail surface is rippled or pitted, this may be an early sign of :
    2. Psoriasis.
    3. Inflammatory arthritis.
  7. Cracked or Split Nails :
    1. Dry, brittle nails that frequently crack or split have been linked to :
    2. Thyroid disease.
    3. Cracking or splitting combined with a yellowish hue is more likely due to a fungal infection.
  8. Puffy Nail Fold :
    1. If the skin around the nail appears red and puffy.
    2. This is known as inflammation of the nail fold. It may be the result of:
    3. Lupus or another autoimmune disease.
    4. Infection can also cause redness and inflammation of the nail fold.
  9. Dark Lines Beneath the Nail :
    1. Dark lines beneath the nail should be investigated as soon as possible.
    2. They are sometimes caused by melanoma, the most dangerous type of skin cancer.
  10. Gnawed Nails:
    1. Biting your nails may be nothing more than an old habit.
    2. But in some cases it’s a sign of persistent anxiety that could benefit from treatment.
    3. Nail biting or picking has also been linked to obsessive-compulsive disorder.
    4. If you can’t stop, it’s worth discussing with your doctor.
  11. Nails Are Only Part of the Puzzle. Instead of any change in the nail morphology you may not have any disease.
    • But when ever you see some change, it is better to consult your doctor.

Why Human Brain is Thinking Differently?

Posted Aug. 14, 2013

  • Most of the time i am thinking about the various people that how they think differently when anatomically and histologically no difference in all human brain.
  • Some of us become doctors. some become engineers, some teachers, some handyman, some actors, and some simple secretary.
  • My question is that some of us become terrorist, some become dacoit, some thief, some criminal and some murderer.
  • Now if you ask question from all these criminals , they will justify their criminal life.
  • You will be surprised that i have come across few criminals few dacoits and few thieves. This will be interesting for you that all of them justify their act or their criminal activity. They will convince you about their activities and justify their bad acts and habits. They will blame the society. You can not count their excuses and can convince them that they are wrong.
  • Ok we may be convinced by their logic but my question is why their brain accepts all those arguments.and they go against the society. They have no respect for the feeling of other.
  • After all what are the chemical changes or environmental changes in their brain which convince them that they are on the right path. Most of them never repent on their life destructive attitude to the humanity and society.
  • There was one study from Pakistan by Dr.Shershah, karachi and he blamed early death of the mothers and he believes that the orphans under unfavourable conditions become criminals and terrorists.
  • He may be right to some extent.
  • We need lot of research to understand human brain why it works differently in different people.
  • Some of the psychologist and psychiatrist think that there are some chemical changes which leads to different behaviour.
  • One possible theory may be that our brain is just like the hard disk of computer and whatever programming we do to that computer, will work according to the software programming.
  • If this is true then why this programming goes wrong and why ?
  • None of us want that any person may be problem to the society. So what happens ? is it some mutation in the gene or something like virus in the computer, disturbs the human brain.
  • In Quran this is written that “ we have stamped their brain(heart) and they will never change”.Now I understand that it’s mean’s that these criminals brain is programmed like that and we can not change them and also can not convince them that they are wrong.
  • But we may be able to modify them if there is little damage as we can repair the hard disk of computer.
  • So this is my question to all my friends that can we solve this mystery of the brain that why we think differently when anatomically and histologically all human brains are similar.?

How To Prevent Renal Stones

Posted Aug. 10, 2013

  • Renal stones are also called as kidney stones.
  • Renal stones are very common problem in most of the temperate climate.
  • One of the most common cause considered to be is the less intake of water and hot climate.

Constituents of stone
  • These stones consists of following chemical components:
    1. Calcium oxalate.
    2. Calcium phosphate.
    3. Uric acid.
    4. Mixture of magnesium ammonium phosphate.
    5. Cysteine.
    6. These substances crystalizes in organic matrix in kidney or urinary bladder.
    7. These substances are poorly soluble in aqueous (water) solution.
    8. Their solubility depends upon the pH of urine.

Formation of stones depends upon
  1. Urine flow which depends upon water intake.
  2. Excessive excretion of above chemicals excreted in urine.
  3. Absence of the substances that inhibit the stone formation.
  4. Calcium oxalate stone
    1. These are the most common stones and occurs world wide.
    2. These are more common in the tropical and subtropical countries.
    3. These are associated with concentrated urine or increased calcium oxalate excretion in the urine.
  5. Uric acid
    1. These are more common in the raised level of uric acid.
    2. Diet rich in proteins may lead to uric acid stone formation.
    3. These are common in people who take lot of fish in their diet.

Prevention of the various stones
Calcium Oxalate Stones

  1. Reducing sodium intake.
  2. Reduce animal protein, such as meat, eggs, and fish.
  3. Avoid taking calcium supplements with food.
  4. Avoiding foods high in oxalate, such as spinach, rhubarb, nuts, and wheat bran.

Calcium Phosphate Stones
  1. Reducing sodium intake.
  2. Reducing animal protein.
  3. Avoid calcium from food or taking calcium supplements with food.

Uric Acid Stones
  1. These form in high protein diet.
  2. Excessive eating fish may lead to uric acid stone formation.
  3. Decrease the animal protein like Beef, lamb, goat , chicken.
  4. There is high concentration of uric acid in fish.
  5. Other factors
  6. Which leads to kidney stone formation include :
    1. Genes.
    2. Environment.
    3. Body weight.
    4. Fluid intake.

Prevention in the long run in patients once they have stone formation

  1. Diet is one of several factors that can promote or inhibit kidney stone formation.
  2. Four major types of kidney stones are :
    1. calcium stones.
    2. Uric acid stones.
    3. Struvite stones.
    4. Cystine stones.
  3. Fluid intake is the main key to prevent the stone formation.
  4. People with history of stone formation should have enough water and fluids, so that they will have urine output of at least 2 liters per day.
  5. Sodium salt causes the kidneys to excrete more calcium into the urine.
    1. High concentrations of calcium in the urine combine with oxalate and phosphorus to form stones.
    2. Reducing sodium intake is preferred to reducing calcium intake.
  6. Meats and other animal protein e.g. s eggs and fish contain purines, which break down into uric acid in the urine.
  7. Calcium from food does not increase the risk of calcium oxalate stones. Calcium in the digestive tract binds to oxalate from food and keeps it from entering the blood.
